ABSTRACT
Impact of paper mill effluent on the germination of several important crops of Purvanchal (i.e. Capsicum annuum L, Brassica campestris L Pisum sativum L., Cicer arietinum L., Lens culinaris L., Glycine max L., Phaseolus mungo L. and Zea mays L.) were studied and it was recorded that this effluent which is harmful for human and live stocks can be utilized for the irrigation of selected crops either directly or after a proper dilution and can serve as a liquid fertilizer for the cultivation of agricultural crops. In this way we can mitigate the hazards of environmental pollution upto certain extent and also save a large quantity of potable water for the consumption of human and live stock
