ABSTRACT

The present census brings out an inventory of plants in the campus of Ramakrishna Vivekananda Mission Institute of Advanced Studies (RKVMIAS), Kolkata. As many as 224 species, of which 182 are dicotyledonous and 35 monocotyledonous, are included in the checklist thus prepared. The ratio of dicot and monocot taxa in the existing plant composition of the campus at specific level is 4.33:1, and at family level 4.7:1. Many of the plants sustained in the campus are rare, botanically interesting attractive and source of various phytoresources and aesthetic pleasure.
