ABSTRACT

The authors investigated the in-vitro and in-vivo bactericidal action of the leaves of Lantana camara (Raimunia), an endemic aromatic shrub against the dermatophytic bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. The different concentration of benzene, ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Lantana camara have been studied for its antibacterial activity. The benzene and the aqueous extracts showed the moderate inhibition whereas ethanolic extract showed the maximum inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus.

Key words : In-vitro, in-vivo, antibacterial, Lantana camara, Staphylococcus aureus.
