Ayurveda a traditional system of Indian medicine, the main aim of this system is to maintain the health of a healthy person and cure the disease of diseased. Ayurveda has described the Traya Upastambha (three supporting pillars) of human body, viz., Ahara, Nidra, and Brahmacharya. These three supporting pillars are considered essential for playing crucial roles in balancing the body and mind, preventing diseases, and supporting optimal health. Sleep is intricately linked to various aspects of human health. It contributes to emotional well-being by influencing satisfaction, encompassing both happiness, and sorrow. Additionally, sleep impacts cognitive function by enhancing alertness, facilitating knowledge retention, and mitigating unawareness. Moreover, sleep serves as a vital component for body nourishment and overall physiological balance. They emphasize its role in promoting physical, mental, and emotional balance, and highlight the physiological effects of quality sleep on various bodily functions. Incorporating healthy sleep habits is considered essential in Ayurveda for supporting optimal health and longevity.
