ABSTRACT

Bacopamonnieri, a plant belonging to family Scrophulariaceae, has been used in the traditional system of Ayurvedic medicine to improve intelligence & memory for long time. Emblica officinalis, commonly known as amla, is an important medicinal plant of India. Thefruits have potent antioxidant activity due to presence of tannins, vitamin C & flavonoids. The present investigation was undertaken to assess the pharmacological effects of Bacopa monnieri and Emblica officinalis as nootropic agent in mice. Morris Water Maze task, Elevated plus maze task and estimation of Acetylcholinesterase was done to evaluate the effects.
