Present investigation recorded 276 tree species from southern parts of West Bengal including Sundarbans belonging to 178 genera (dicots 166, monocots 09 & gymnosperms 03) under 57 families (52 dicots, 02 monocots & 03 gymnosperms). Out of 57 only 16 dominant dicot families containing 179 tree species belonging 103 genera describe here. Present studies is based on field surveys from different parts of south West Bengal and Sundarbans of India as well as consulting past and recent literatures. The checklist provides the accepted name with protologue reference followed by local name, flowering and fruiting time, wild or planted or both, exsicata (specimen cited) and / or reference. The families, genera and species follow alphabetic order. From these studies, it will be immense helpful to know the actual status of these trees and ultimately give sphere for establishing well documented data base of trees from these areas for future research works.
