ABSTRACT
This study examines how safety regulations are applied differently in a large public sector organization in India, Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC), and how easy it is for different types of workers to obtain employment contracts. To determine how job type affects working conditions, data were collected from 300 workers, including permanent/organized, contract/unorganized, and daily wage workers, using a mixed methods design. The findings show differences: contract and daily wage workers lack these protections and are not guaranteed legal employment, whereas permanent employees are protected by formal written contracts and consistent safety enforcement.
