ABSTRACT
Sonchus arvensis L. is a medicinal plant widely recognized for its therapeutic properties owing to its diverse phytochemical constituents. The present study investigated the phytochemical composition and in vitro antioxidant potential of the chloroform (SCE) and aqueous (SAE) extracts of S. arvensis. Qualitative phytochemical screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, phenolics and terpenoids in both extracts, whereas tannins and cardiac glycosides were detected only in the chloroform extract.
